Christmas 2000

Dear Loved Ones,
Christmas 2000 is here! It is so amazing that it is already Christmas and our time in Oklahoma is almost through. We have no idea where we’re headed next summer but are looking forward to the move. The job list will be out this month. We should know by Febraury where we’re headed. The Pentagon maybe? Florida?

We have met many wonderful people here in OK and will never forget their love and generosity. The Lord has made it clear to us that wherever we go in this life, there are many loving and caring people to depend on in times of need, even complete strangers.

We no longer dwell on the tornado and it is fading into our memories. We plan to spend Christmas here in OK with Audra’s mom and dad to make new and special memories of our home. The house was finished last January to our surprise. It was great to be back, close to Jay and Hanna’s schools. The neighborhood is coming back slowly and some of our neighbors have moved back in too. But there are still many lots to be filled.

Jay and Hanna are growing by leaps and bounds not only physically, but mentally and spiritually. Jay is in second grade and doing wonderful. He is reading third grade level books and his teacher, Mrs. Shehorne, thinks he is an awsome kid. He played soccer this fall for the first itme and had a lot of fun. He plans to play baseball again this spring and hopes to hit some more homeruns. Hanna is enjoying preschool and gymnastics. She is small so she does very well at tumbling and almost flies off the trampoline. Barbie seems to be her favorite past-time. Both kids are in choir at church.

John was promoted to Major on November first. His mom and dad flew out for the ceremony and enjoyed a few days with their grandchildren. Only eight more years to retirement!

I keep busy at home in between taking Jay and Hanna here and there. Both John and I are still playing bells and teaching the Kindergarten Sunday School class together. I hope to go back to school next fall to earn a teaching degree.

We traveled to Arizona during spring break and enjoyed seeing Audra’s Aunts and Uncles, cousins and friend, Sara. Audra’s mom and dad also flew to Arizona for a nice family reunion. We had a good time catching up and seeing the sights. In July we drove to San Antonio to visit Sea World and dine on our favorite food, Mexican! Of course, the temps were in the 100’s and we burned our feet at the water park.

We hope you have a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year! We love and miss you all very much. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this holiday season.

Love,
John, Audra, Jay & Hanna
