Christmas 1998

Dear Loved Ones,

Christmas is almost upon us, and it has been about a year since we moved from Ohio to Oklahoma. The time has flown by, and before you know it you will have to change our address in your address books. Oklahoma is…let’s say OK. Things started out rough but after moving into our new home and getting involved in our new church it is getting better. We miss you all and pray for you often.

John is enjoying his new job. Just recently he received an award from his previous job at Wright-Patterson. Because of that award, and his expertise, the Colonel here at the Air Weather Service wants to put him to work in researching a tornado’s pattern before it touches the ground. This in turn would give us even more time to find shelter in an event of a tornado. John also works on various radar sites in the U.S. and abroad. One is in Hawaii and this could mean a second honeymoon. Keep your fingers crossed. Besides Disciple I and Bells John is writing up our family’s genealogy from Adam and Eve to Hanna. You can check it out at our Web Site.

Jay is 6, in Kindergarten, and learning so much. He is absorbing it all. Sometimes he thinks he is smarter than his mom. (I wonder sometimes!) This past spring we got him involved in T-Ball. He loved it and had a super time. His coach said he was the fastest runner on the team, and Jay was always first on the field. Despite the heat this spring and summer his team played very well for the first year, coming in second to last. Just wait till next year! Jay is also a wonderful artist. He can draw most anything and is teaching his sister to do the same.

Hanna is two and still petite. She is in preschool two days a week and is starting to speak very well now. She tells you just how it is. She loves to sing, dance and play “Mommy.” We’re having some trouble with potting training because of her size. She insists on using the “big” potty and just yesterday she fell in at school. Maybe that cured her. Hanna may be petite but she knows what she wants, especially when is comes to playing with her brother or on the computer.

I guess I’ve had the worst time in adjusting to Oklahoma. I thought it would be like the musical…wide open spaces. Well, there is a lot of land out here but not in Oklahoma City. Plus, it was so hot this summer. All we did was go from our air conditioned house to our air conditioned car to the air conditioned store. Everyone keeps telling me that we had an unusual summer. However, I did teach Bible School, started a correspondence course to write children’s books, started teaching Kindergarten Sunday School and playing Bells. I’m sure I’ll be sad when we transfer in three years but for now Oklahoma is just OK.

We love and miss you all and hope you have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! Remember, Jesus loves you!

Love,
John, Audra, Jay and Hanna
